'Makes such claims all the time’: BJP dismisses TMC’s Mamata knife attack allegation
BJP questions TMC’s claim of attack on Mamata

NEW DELHI: BJP has dismissed allegations made by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) that a woman attempted to attack former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee with a knife outside her residence in Kolkata. The BJP dismissed the allegations, with West Bengal minister Dilip Ghosh taking a swipe at Banerjee and questioning her claims of being attacked.“She herself makes such claims all the time. Public doesn’t know what she did. Nobody knows where and how she gets attacked…She doesn’t even know how she lost the election. She should rest now and see what the public wants,” Ghosh said.TMC MP Saket Gokhale alleged that a drug addict had reached Banerjee’s residence and tried to attack her with a knife. He questioned how a leader with Z+ security cover could face such a threat and suggested that the incident could be part of a BJP conspiracy.TMC MP Dola Sen filed a complaint at Kalighat police station, seeking action under Section 173 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). According to the complaint, the incident took place around 6pm on Tuesday. It identified the woman as Tannishtha Saha, allegedly a civic volunteer, and claimed she arrived in an intoxicated and aggressive state, hurled abuses and tried to approach Banerjee with a knife.
