In 1981, Sanjay Dutt made his debut in Bollywood with ‘Rocky.’ Back in the day, he was one of the most in-demand actors, and to date, his charisma never fails to seize the day. However, there was a phase in the actor’s life that is termed the most controversial chapter. In March 1993, he was arrested in connection with the serial blasts in Bombay (now Mumbai). He was charged with illegal possession of weapons, and Dutt served his term in instalments. However, as they say, every phase of your life comes for a reason; it teaches you a lesson. Bollywood’s prolific star, Sanjay Dutt, recently sat with AIG Hospitals’ Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, where he opened up about what his prison time taught him. The topic was raised while the host and the guest were speaking about Sanjay Dutt’s famous ‘jadu ki jhappi’ and the value of sorry and thank you. These two simple terms keep a person grounded, noted Dr Reddy. Adding to his statement, Sanjay Dutt spoke about the importance of forgiveness.Recalling his time behind bars, he shared, “I have also learned this during my jail term. I have learned to forgive.”“A hawaldar (constable) taught me this. He told me, ‘Learn to forgive people, and you will grow more in your life,'” said the ‘Vaastav’ actor.He explained how the constable told him that irrespective of people hurting him, he should practice forgiveness. The actor added that, though it sounds like a noble thought, it is easier said than done. “But it is very difficult to do that,” he admitted.“That is the main thing,” he concluded.
When Sanjay Dutt said jail time broke his ego
In another media interaction, Dutt spoke more about his time in jail. “It broke my ego,” he told IANS, before adding, “My confinement days have been nothing less than a roller coaster ride. To look at the positive side, it has taught me a lot and made me a better individual.”

Sanjay Dutt wished his father was alive to see him free
Sanjay Dutt was released from prison in 2016, a decade after his father Sunil Dutt’s passing. When he opened up about the same during his interaction with the aforesaid publication, he shared, “The day I was released after the final verdict, it was the happiest moment of my life. I was missing my father (Sunil Dutt). I wish he was alive to see me free. He would have been the happiest person.”He gave the message that family is the greatest strength and one must never take it for granted.
