The luxury mansion belonging to late boxing legend Ricky Hatton has finally been sold for £1.5 million, £350,000 below its original asking price, according to Land Registry documents cited by the Daily Mail.The five-bedroom detached property in Gee Cross, Greater Manchester, was initially listed for £1.85 million. However, following Hatton’s death last September, the home was taken off the market before being relisted at a series of reduced prices. It was eventually sold earlier this year for £1.5 million.

Hatton, a former light-welterweight and welterweight world champion, was found dead at the property in September 2025, aged 46. His body was discovered in the games room by his manager Paul Speak.The house had reportedly been placed on the market for £1.85 million shortly before his death. Following the tragedy, the sale was paused before the property returned to the market at £1.75 million. The asking price was subsequently reduced to £1.65 million before the eventual £1.5 million sale.Despite the circumstances surrounding the property, the estate agent’s listing made no reference to Hatton’s death. Instead, it described the residence as a “landmark modern residence offering luxury, space and unrivalled lifestyle features”.

Built in 2010, the six-bathroom property had been extensively personalised by Hatton and reflected several of his passions, particularly his love for Manchester City.The grounds reportedly featured a traditional telephone box as well as seats from the club’s former Maine Road stadium. The property also offered expansive landscaped gardens with views of the surrounding greenbelt.

Among its luxury amenities were a heated indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, a private gym, cinema room and games room with a bar. A glass wall in the games area overlooked the pool.The principal bedroom suite featured a dressing room or walk-in closet, a deluxe en-suite bathroom, a crushed velvet chaise longue and dark patterned wallpaper.

The mansion also included multiple reception rooms, open-plan living areas and a high-specification dark-panelled kitchen. CCTV and intercom access provided additional security.The estate agent described it as a “rare opportunity to acquire a truly outstanding home” in one of the North West’s most sought-after residential areas.

Sale comes amid questions over Ricky Hatton’s estate
The property sale comes amid reports of uncertainty surrounding Hatton’s wider fortune. In July, reports claimed that disagreements had emerged over his estimated £40 million estate, with some members of his close family reportedly unclear about how his wealth would ultimately be distributed.Hatton, widely known by his nickname “The Hitman”, retired from boxing in 2012 after a celebrated career that saw him become a two-weight world champion and one of Britain’s most recognisable fighters.His death at the age of 46 sent shockwaves through the boxing world, with tributes pouring in from fighters, trainers and fans around the globe.
