‘Ramayana’ makers release BTS video with a peek at the theme park, museum and immersive plans beyond the film: ‘A timeless epic, a limitless vision’

Namit Malhotra’s ‘Ramayana’ is trying to build a world that goes well beyond the cinema screen. The makers have released a Vision Video that shows the thinking behind the project, including plans for immersive spaces that could sit alongside the film. The video was unveiled on JioHotstar.

What the Vision Video shows

The video is less about the film’s story and more about what the team wants to build around it. It talks about connecting the epic with audiences across generations and countries, using storytelling, technology and immersive experiences. The idea is to let people engage with the world of ‘Ramayana’ in ways that a traditional theatrical release cannot offer.

Theme park and museum in the larger plan

The vision brings together cinema, India’s heritage and immersive spaces, which include a theme park and a museum. Through this, Malhotra wants to create a lasting cultural legacy around the epic and introduce its stories, characters and values to younger audiences worldwide. The makers have not shared details such as locations or timelines for these spaces in the material released so far.

Teaser and caption

A social media teaser has also been shared across the film’s platforms. The caption read, “A timeless epic. A limitless vision. Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana reimagines a legendary world for generations to come. From India, for a better world. Watch on Jio Hotstar.”

Behind the camera and the cast

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Rocking Star Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. It is produced by Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, with eight-time Academy Award-winning visual effects studio DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations as associates. The scale of the visual effects work is a big part of what the makers are pitching.

Release plans for ‘Ramayana’

The film is planned as a two-part epic. Part 1 will reach cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, and Part 2 will follow at Diwali 2027. It will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam across India, with IMAX among the premium formats. After its theatrical window, it will be available on JioHotstar as a dedicated on-demand purchase. Sony Pictures will distribute the film globally outside India, while Dharma Productions will handle the Hindi-speaking market.
