NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Tuesday gave Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav a final opportunity to deposit at least Rs 2 crore with the Supreme Court Registry within two weeks in connection with a cheque bounce case involving a private complainant.Rajpal is accused of owing Rs 5 crore to the owner of Murali Productions.Also read | Rajpal gets interim relief in cheque bounce case, SC exempts surrender if he deposits Rs 5 cr by WednesdayA bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant noted that the actor’s past conduct in the matter did not inspire confidence.However, the top court granted him two weeks after his counsel assured the bench that Rajpal would deposit at least Rs 2 crore within the deadline and provide a surety for the remaining amount.“Looking at his past conduct.. how can anybody trust him? He’s perfect in doing drama and acting in Bollywood, he’s doing same thing in Court also”, the CJI said.The court also extended the protection granted to Rajpal from arrest until the next hearing on October 5.However, it directed the actor to surrender his passport.
