Patrick J. Adams has outlined a detailed concept for a potential revival of the legal drama ‘Suits’ that would bring back the original cast, including Meghan Markle’s character Rachel Zane. The 44-year-old actor shared his pitch on social media on Friday, July 3, presenting ideas for how the beloved series could be revived with contemporary storylines and the original ensemble cast.According to Adams’ pitch shared on Instagram Stories, the revival would centre on a class action lawsuit against an artificial intelligence company. “Mike [Ross, played by Adams] and Rachel [Zane, played by Meghan] are working on a class action suit against a giant AI company when suddenly the years of past indiscretions and illegal maneuvering at Pearson Hardman are threatened to be revealed,” he wrote, establishing the central conflict that would bring the characters back together as reported by People
Impact on original characters and storylines
Adams outlined how the revival would affect the various main characters from the original series. “Harvey [Specter, played by Gabriel Macht] and Donna’s [Paulsen, played by Sarah Rafferty] life could be over before it’s really started. Jessica’s [Pearson, played by Gina Torres] political career could be cut off at the knees. Louis [Litt, played by Rick Hoffman] could lose the very thing he has worked so long for...the firm,” he wrote, detailing the stakes for each character.

Adams suggested that the central character’s motivations would drive the narrative. “Once again Mike’s wanting to do good has dragged this team back together with one chance to truly wipe the slate clean and buy them all a future that they can be proud of,” he explained.
Creative elements and spinoff possibilities
Adams included various creative ideas for the revival format. “I might throw in some skinny tie jokes and some classic bike riding montages. Give Harvey and Donna a baby, then do spinoffs in different cities following the various main characters,” he wrote, envisioning an expanded universe extending beyond the main revival project. He concluded his pitch with confidence about the concept. “Sort of writes itself. Let’s go. I’m ready” Adams stated expressing his enthusiasm for bringing the show back.

Adams clarifies he has no official knowledge of plans
In a follow-up post, Adams acknowledged that his pitch was speculative rather than based on insider information. “I don’t actually know anything about plans for a reunion, as far as I can tell, the powers that be walked away after ‘Suits LA,'” he wrote, referencing the spinoff series that concluded recently.Despite lacking official involvement in any revival plans, Adams expressed his reasoning for proposing the concept. “But seems strange not to try and get the band back together. The world is a corrupt cesspool and it would be fun to watch the team try and do the right thing in a world determined to all the wrong things. Anyway. I’m available,” he added.
Background on the original series and streaming resurgence
‘Suits’ originally followed Mike, who finds himself working at a law firm alongside some of New York City’s best lawyers including Harvey, Jessica and Louis. Donna serves as Harvey’s assistant, while Rachel begins the series as a paralegal. The series aired on a network between 2011 and 2019, concluding with its season 9 finale. The legal drama experienced a significant renaissance when it became available on streaming platforms in the summer of 2023 reaching an entirely new audience years after its conclusion. The show’s popularity on streaming reached unprecedented levels, with the drama setting records for most viewed acquired content nearly four years after its series finale, accumulating billions of viewing minutes across streaming platforms during peak weeks.
Previous spinoff and Adams’ continued interest in revival
A spinoff series titled ‘Suits: LA’ was announced in February 2024 and launched on a major network. The spinoff, which starred Stephen Amell as Los Angeles attorney Ted Black, an old friend of the original series’ Harvey character, ran for one season before being canceled in May 2025.Adams has previously expressed interest in reviving the original cast through various formats. In June 2024, Adams and several of his costars from the legal drama, including Sarah Rafferty, Dulé Hill, Abigail Spencer and Amanda Schull, reunited at a television festival in Austin, Texas, to mark five years since the show’s series finale.During that event, Adams was asked about the possibility of a theatrical film adaptation, noting that other shows from the same network have been transformed into cinematic projects. “It’s definitely something he’s interested in doing, in trying to get the band back together. It’s gonna depend on a million things if that can happen,” Adams stated at the time. When pressed further about feasibility, Adams expressed cautious optimism. “But is it possible? I think it is possible,” he concluded, suggesting that while obstacles exist, a revival project remains within the realm of possibility.
