NEW DELHI: Ahead of a rally on Nov 1, the joint opposition bloc is considering a “mock parliament” next week to further up the ante against SIR and CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The bloc is also mulling new demands on the controversial issues to surprise the govt.Sources said a “mock” gathering depicting an assembly of MPs may take place in the national capital on Oct 28. The event will involve MPs and others, but is unlikely to be a large gathering, given that a massive show of strength to push for the CEC’s resignation is planned at Ramlila Maidan as a “Delhi chalo” rally. An opposition member said the mock session could have an agenda ranging from “impeachment of CEC” and seeking his resignation to a discussion on SIR, which opposition claims has led to mass disenfranchisement. Sources said new demands, not yet unveiled by the bloc, were also being planned. “There are groups of technocrats at work and new revelation leading to a fresh agenda can be raised,” a functionary said. The idea is to sustain the agitation seeking CEC’s removal. The campaign began with CJP’s call for a dharna on Oct 10, while the INDIA bloc marched to the EC office on Oct 6, to Rashtrapati Bhavan on Oct 9, and to the SC on Oct 12.
