The famed actress and singer passed away on Wednesday, as confirmed by KABC’s George Pennachio. He took to his Facebook account in order to share a tribute post for the veteran star, sharing how much of an influential figure she was in the industry. He wrote, “She was only 16 when she was nominated for an Oscar! Actress Ann Blyth died peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday at the age of 98, less than two months before her 99th birthday.He further detailed her career in his post, sharing how she was one of the youngest successful stars of her time, and had even dabbled a little in every stream of media, including radio and Broadway. He also added, “Ann was active in philanthropy and volunteered for many causes. Her family says she loved her garden, knitting, and oil painting. She was known for gifting her work to friends and family.” He also made mention of how often Blyth would return responses to fans’ mail, and that she loved interacting with people.

Blyth was only 6 years old when she first started working in the entertainment industry, and slowly rose to the top in the golden age of cinema. She started as a child performer at a radio station. She later moved on to Broadway after appearing on stage for the first time in ‘Watch on the Rhine’ in 1941. 3 years later, in 1944, she finally landed her film debut and appeared on the big screen in ‘Chip Off the Old Block.’Over the years, she worked with a lot of big stars and became a rising force on her own as well. Her most notable work, which she is still remembered for today, comes from ‘Mildred Pierce.’ The actress played Joan Crawford’s daughter in the film and even earned an Oscar nomination for her portrayal.She is remembered for many notable films, including ‘Brute Force’, ‘The Great Caruso’, ‘The Helen Morgan Story’, ‘The Student Prince’, and many others. Her last appearance in front of the camera was in the TV series, ‘Murder, She Wrote’, in 1985. She was also honoured with the Living Legacy Award in 2003 by the Women’s International Center for her work and her influence.
