Over the years, Mark Ruffalo has come to be known as a household name in the Hollywood industry. With many seasoned roles under his belt along with a variety of accolades, the actor has built a reputation for himself. Not only that, but he has also built himself quite an impressive real estate portfolio. From his primary residence at the Catskills Farmhouse to his former stunning Brooklyn Townhouse, Ruffalo has invested in some beautiful estates.

The Catskills Farmhouse

One of the actor’s main residences, located in Callicoon, New York, is one of the most stunning places on this list. While talking to Men’s Journal in 2017, the actor opened up about how he came across Callicoon in the mid-90s, and soon after, he invested USD 63,000 in his first home there. Spread across 27 acres, the property came with a one-room cabin. Around 2001, he and his wife, Sunrise Coigney, stayed in Callicoon; however, they did naturally upgrade to an estate located on a former dairy farm. The estate came with a 19th-century post-and-beam barn. While talking about the purchase, the ‘Avengers’ star shared, “The smartest thing I ever did. It ended up having a huge influence on my life in many ways.”

While the sprawling estate was their main residence, the family shifted everything to Los Angeles for their children’s education. The Los Angeles Times reported that the gated single-story residence was built all the way back in 1933. The style was inspired by a popular Connecticut farmhouse, and it spanned 3,000 square feet. The property has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a detached guesthouse. Highlights of the property included a fireplace-warmed living room with beamed ceilings and a breakfast room. The two had bought the property back in December 2004 for USD 1.7 million. While talking to the Times Herald in 2016, the actor shared, “We try to get to our place in Callicoon as much as we can on weekends and holidays and, of course, spend the summer there. It’s a place I will always hold dear to my heart, filled with lifetime friends and lots of positive sentiment. It’s the best, most interconnected community I have ever lived in save for my early years in Los Angeles when I was scraping it out to become an actor.”Two years later, they sold the property for USD 1.65 million to ‘New Girl’ star Zooey Deschanel and her then-husband, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard.

Carroll Gardens townhouse

This was Ruffalo’s next real estate purchase. He spent USD 3.5 million on the townhouse, which is located in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighborhood back in 2015. The property spans 3,000 square feet and was originally built in 1899. It had four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a backyard garden. Some of the major features of the property include stunning cathedral ceilings, marble fireplaces, decorative arches, and wide-plank wood flooring. The home also featured a large kitchen space that had a high-end range, a sunroom with a balcony, and a curved wooden staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms. Ruffalo later sold the property in 2017 for USD 3.2 million.Lastly, there is also Mark Ruffalo’s Upper West Side pad. While not much is known about his purchase in the area, many reports suggest that he lives in an early 20th-century four-story townhouse.DISCLAIMER: Figures presented in this article are derived from various public sources and are considered approximate unless explicitly noted.
