Kangana Ranaut celebrates Raksha Bandhan in a saree with teeka, aarti thali and traditional rituals after criticising Kriti Sanon’s ad and her outfit: PICS

Kangana Ranaut marked Raksha Bandhan with her brother Akshat Ranaut and gave fans a peek into their celebrations. The actor shared a series of photos from the festive occasion on Instagram, capturing the siblings as they celebrated the special day with their family. In the pictures, Kangana can be seen dressed in a blue saree as she performs the traditional rituals for her brother. She is seen conducting the aarti for Akshat and his wife before tying a rakhi around her brother’s wrist. The siblings also shared a light-hearted moment, smiling and laughing together before posing for pictures.Kangana also gave her followers a closer look at the puja thali prepared for the occasion. It featured traditional Raksha Bandhan essentials, including a rakhi, laddoos, halwa, dhoop, a diya, kumkum and rice. This comes after recently the actress was seen criticising Kriti Sanon‘s latest Raksha Bandhan ad for lack of Indian culture. Kangana also criticised Krit’s outfit in the ad. The campaign featured Kriti wearing a bralette-style top with a skirt while celebrating the festival, prompting some social media users to question the choice of outfit for an advertisement centred on a traditional Hindu occasion.Meanwhile, alongside the photographs, Kangana penned a heartfelt message for Akshat, reflecting on their bond and offering prayers for his well-being. She wrote in Hindi, “My dear brother, I pray to God that this bond of love I have tied around your wrist may always protect you. May you serve our parents, uphold the honor of our family, ensure the well-being of your wife, always protect your children, and remain forever content with your life. She further added, “My dear brother, I wish to always see you healthy and prosperous; to me, you are the very reflection of our parents, and I hope to always receive your love and protection. Best wishes to all brothers and sisters on this cherished festival. Heartfelt Raksha Bandhan wishes 🙏.”Addressing the controversy surrounding the campaign’s withdrawal, Kangana argued that the outfit itself was only a small part of the issue. “The bralette was a very small part of the bigger issue,” she said.According to the actor-politician, the bigger concern was that the advertisement did not feature several elements traditionally associated with Raksha Bandhan celebrations. “For Hindus, the real question was—where are the parents? Where is the home? There was no halwa, puri, God, tilak, akshat, incense or lamp—nothing,” she said.Elaborating on her point, Kangana added, “Festival is not just about aesthetics. A festival is an aesthetic expression of a culture and civilisation.”
