Actors Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd, and Sarah Paulson are making their big return to the theater with a brand new Broadway production! According to recent reports, the trio will be working together for an upcoming production of ‘Small Mouth Sounds.‘ Here’s what we know so far about their latest project.
Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd, and Sarah Paulson to star in new Broadway production
Deadline reported that Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd, and Sarah Paulson will be joining hands for an upcoming Broadway production titled ‘Small Mouth Sounds.’ From the mind of Bess Wohl, the production will be directed by Joe Mantello and Scott Rudin, while Barry Diller will be taking over the producing.The cast will also include names like Martin Freeman, Greta Lee, and Isaac Powell. According to the reports shared online, the first previews for the show are expected to start off on February 18, 2027, at the Ethel Barrymore Theater. The production will later have its opening on March 18, 2027. ‘Small Mouth Stands’ has been described as an “experimental and nearly silent comedy.”Director Scott Rudin opened up about the upcoming project in an official statement after the production was announced. He shared that he is excited for the show to reach people and also opened up about the recent ‘opt-in’ system that had been introduced on the ticketing platform. He shared, “There are a great many serious theatergoers who want to see plays of quality on Broadway and who are willing and eager to opt in early and buy great seats at great prices. These theatergoers continually demonstrate that they know what they want. A serious Broadway playgoer—the audience member we most rely on, whose interest is ignited by authentically ambitious work—is going to need to see both of these plays. Pairing them this way—i.e., making them accessible to theatergoers who know how to say yes when there’s something worth saying yes to—is great for the audience and also great for the plays.”
Who is the team behind ‘Small Mouth Sounds’?
The talented team behind developing the entire production includes designer Chloe Lamford and lighting designer Jack Knowles, both of whom have won Tony Awards. Other than that, the team also includes names like Moliere Award-winning costume designer An D’Huys and award-winning sound designer Tom Gibbons. Music for the production will be cared for by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw.On the other hand, this is not the first time that Roberts and Rudd have worked together. In 2006, they previously joined hands to star in ‘Three Days of Rain,’ which was written by Richard Greenberg and directed by Mantello.
