When Guy Ritchie and Madonna divorced in 2008, Ritchie walked away with Ashcombe House, a historic 1,134-acre estate that is nestled in Cranborne Chase, Wiltshire. The couple had originally bought the Grade II-listed Georgian manor for roughly GBP 9 million in 2001. The estate, which has its own website to provide people a look into its rich history, was once leased by legendary royal photographer Cecil Beaton, who turned it into a creative sanctuary for artists and “Bright Young Things” in the 1930s.

More about Guy Ritchie’s sole property spanning 1,100 acres

Some of the key features of Ashcombe House include the rolling chalk hills, ancient woodlands, a 17th-century Quaker burial ground, an active game shoot, and even a private brewery. The interiors were designed by Edward Hurst, and the main residence itself has six en-suite double bedrooms. Another quirky feature of the space is that all of the bedrooms are named after different famous writers. These include Maya Angelou, Emily Dickinson, and many others. The filmmaker also made sure to feature artwork and antiques from the Ritchie family’s personal collection in his home as well.

Guy Ritchie’s indestructible outdoor space that he now sells commercially was born in his backyard

The director, who is best known for his work in ‘Swept Away,’ ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,’ and ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,’ spent years creating a special outdoor space on his property. It is weatherproof and often referred to as an “indestructible” outdoor entertaining setup, which he now sells as a luxury concept called WildKitchen under his lifestyle brand. According to the official website of the brand, the iconic feature that Ritchie mastered in his own home is made with heavy-duty, marine-grade retractable canvas and solid hardwood posts. The main fire unit has been made with oil-treated hardwood and heavy metals, while it also features dual fireboxes positioned under and around the dining table.

Guy Ritchie’s home was featured in his OTT series, ‘The Gentlemen‘

Another addition to its rich history and culture, while making the hit series ‘The Gentlemen,’ he opened up his own home to serve as one of the main filming locations. This is where the estate and its lakeside grounds serve as the backdrop for Eddie Horniman’s hunting party and outdoor scenes. The Ascombe property was used for specific sequences; however, the primary fictional ancestral home of the Horniman family (Halstead Manor) in the series was filmed at the historic Badminton House in Gloucestershire. Some of the other iconic locations that were used during the filming of the second season, along with Ritchie’s estate, include Villa Rusconi Clerici, Compton Abbas Airfield, Loseley Park, Grand Hotel Majestic, and many others.
