Isro chairman V Narayanan on Monday said the space agency remains a government organisation and dismissed concerns about its privatisation, saying the growing involvement of private companies and startups is part of efforts to expand India’s space ecosystem. Narayanan said India’s space programme was about 64-65 years old and that 56 space assets were currently operating in orbit to serve the country. “Since the space sector reforms were rolled out six years ago, as per that, we are supposed to hand-hold the private sector, startup companies, and grow the space ecosystem,” he said. LPG refill booking interval cut to 25 days in rural areas, matching urban rule
Union Minister Suresh Gopi on Monday said the central government has directed oil marketing companies (OMCs) to implement a 25-day LPG refill booking interval uniformly across urban and rural areas with immediate effect.Gopi, Union Minister of state for petroleum and natural gas and tourism, said the government had earlier prescribed a 25-day booking interval in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas as a temporary demand-management measure amid supply concerns.The petroleum ministry, in a letter dated September 7 addressed to the chairmen and managing directors of IOCL, BPCL and HPCL, said the decision was taken in view of the improved LPG supply position and a considerable reduction in refill backlogs compared with the situation when the demand-management measures were introduced.
