The first special screening for Tom Holland and Zendaya’s latest superhero film has finally happened. Multiple critics and movie reviewers online shared their first thoughts on the film and what it was like. Read on to know what reviewers have to say ahead of the film’s official release.
Critics review ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day ’ at premiere
Following the recent premiere of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, many critics and freelance reviewers shared their opinions online about the upcoming film.Zach Pope took to X to post, “#SpidermanBrandNewDay is everything I hoped it would be! A tragic yet poetic odyssey about what it truly means to feel alone, only to realize you may not have to be alone…It’s thematically beautiful while still delivering an endlessly entertaining Spider-Man adventure that never feels overstuffed. Nearly every character serves Peter Parker’s journey, making every moment feel purposeful. Tom Holland gives the best performance as Peter… but somehow, Sadie Sink might just steal the entire movie. Best action/web swinging we have ever had!”Matthew Nando Kelly, another freelance critic and reviewer who had attended the premiere of the film, shared a gif of Spider-Man and wrote, “Listen. #SpidermanBrandNewDay is my new favourite Spider-Man movie. It is absolutely incredible. Looks gorgeous. Writing is sharp. Performances are excellent. I was smiling the entire time. Even teared up. I am SHOCKED at how good this is.” Germain Lussier from Gizmodo wrote, “Don’t mind me. I’m just sitting here crying after watching #SpidermanBrandNewDay. It’s a massive movie that balances like 5 different through lines in equal measure, each better than the last. It can feel a little overwhelming, but it all comes together so beautifully it works.”Nick Spake, on the other hand, posted about Sadie Sink’s character stealing the limelight from everything else and took to X to write, “For its first hour, #SpiderManBrandNewDay plays a bit too much like past Spidey movies. The film gets better as it goes along, though, with Tom Holland continuing to demonstrate why he’s the definitive Spider-Man. Yet, it’s Sadie Sink who steals the show in her ‘mystery role.’”
Reviewers rave about Destin Daniel Cretton’s work
Mike Ryan further praised Destin Daniel Cretton’s work and added, “SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY is a much more cerebral follow-up than the crowd-pleasing No Way Home. It’s Tom Holland’s best performance as Peter Parker and the best Spider-Man movie since Raimi’s SPIDER-MAN 2. Also, the costume finally looks incredible.”Next Best Picture’s Matt Neglia wrote that for him, this was the best film in Holland’s ‘Spider-Man’ franchise. He further shared in his post that, “Cretton brings a more grounded, back-to-basics approach to the beloved web-slinger, making this fourth standalone film feel like both a fresh reset and a necessary evolution for the character, giving Tom Holland the space to find new depths in his continually pitch-perfect performance. The inclusion of the Punisher and Hulk is fun and provides the typical MCU style of action and comedy, but the movie doesn’t fully pick up until Sadie Sink’s character announces herself to the world and changes the course of the franchise’s future.”
