DGCA sends notice to Air India as 3 foreigners bypass immigration at Delhi airport, fly to Munich

NEW DELHI: The Union aviation ministry has issued a show cause notice to Air India for lapses that saw three foreigners fly into Delhi from Amritsar on Sept 4 and then within an hour depart for Munich on a code share Lufthansa flight without the mandatory immigration check.Titled “violation of SOP for hub and spoke operations resulting in three foreign nationals departing India without mandatory immigration clearance,” the show cause issued to AI last Saturday says these three had landed in Delhi from Amritsar on AI 1115 at 12.50 am on Sept 4 and then took off for Munich on a code share Lufthansa flight within an hour at 1.45 am.“…serious security and immigration-related lapse…. three Italian nationals (flew out) without obtaining mandatory departure immigration clearance,” says the notice.Comments were sought from AI and awaited at time publishing this article.
