NEW DELHI: Ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament, beginning July 20, the Congress on Thursday said it is in touch with all opposition parties that had voted together to defeat the Constitution amendment bill related to delimitation. The parties the Congress is in touch with also include the DMK and the AAP, Ramesh said. The two parties are no longer part of the Congress-led opposition INDIA bloc.“We are in touch with all parties including the DMK who voted with us on the 17th April. We are in touch with all parties, which voted together collectively on the 17th. We are in touch with the DMK; we are in touch with the Aam Aadmi Party,” Ramesh told reporters after the meeting.“We are in touch with the Samajwadi Party, and I can tell you that the top leadership of the Congress Party, which means the Congress president (Mallikarjun Kharge) and the leader of the opposition (Rahul Gandhi) in the Lok Sabha are in touch,” he added.Ramesh’s remarks came amid reports that the government may reintroduce the Constitution amendment bill to operationalise the women’s reservation law through delimitation. The Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, introduced in the Lok Sabha by Union home minister Amit Shah, is also likely to be taken up during the session. The bill seeks to mandate the removal of the prime minister, chief ministers, and other ministers if they are arrested and held in custody for 30 consecutive days for serious offences. The opposition is also expected to target the government over the NEET paper leak case, the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, rising oil prices and the proposed Indo-US trade deal. The Monsoon session of Parliament will continue till August 13.(With PTI inputs)
