Quaid bought the home in late 2017 for $3.9 million. It sits at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Brentwood Hills, a residential area in the hills above Los Angeles. He has built most of his career in the city, and the house has been a part of his life for almost a decade.According to the listing, the Brentwood Hills home is a “pristine, completely remodeled, two-story warm Contemporary done with great taste and quality at the end of a quiet, flat cul-de-sac street in a desirable Brentwood Hills location.”

After buying the place, Quaid carried out an extensive remodel. The home now has just over 4,100 square feet of living space, five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. Large windows and an open floor plan fill the main rooms with light. The home has “airy, sun-filled spaces,” throughout. The house went on the market earlier this year for $5.2 million, which is $1.3 million more than what Quaid paid. David Offer of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices is the listing agent. The ask has since dropped to $4.6 million, according to the outlet.

Why is Quaid leaving Los Angeles

The living area

Quaid, who is originally from Texas, moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2020, with his wife. Though they relocated, they still did not sell the Los Angeles house right away. For six years, they kept it and traveled between the two states, with Nashville remaining their main base. Quaid had his reasons to leave. The actor felt Los Angeles had been going ‘downhill’ since the 1990s. He was also frustrated with the taxes residents pay. “It used to be such a great town and the ’90s was nice. And then it’s been kind of going downhill, and I feel like people pay these taxes for no services,” he told Fox News earlier. He was also ‘angry’ and disappointed by the way local leaders handled the 2025 California wildfires. “Then fire happens and it kind of exposes all those things that go on that should be taken care of. So people are—people are angry and half angry, and they’re half kind of feel like giving up, to tell you the truth.”

During the wildfires, Quaid was forced to evacuate his home, however, his residence was spared from destruction. But that wasn’t the case of his friends and acquaintances. “I have so many friends who have lost—my agent, he lost both of his houses, and another good friend over at Palisades, he just moved into a house and was renting the other one. He lost both of them.”For him, the fires seemed to bring together several problems he already had with the city. Quaid said he was “just one of thousands who have left,” after the wildfires. Now that he has found a perfect haven in Nashville, he has no plans to return to LA.

The house is still looking for the right owner. Whoever buys it will get a fully remodeled home in a quiet neighborhood. The price, even after the cut, sits about $700,000 above what Quaid paid in 2017. The Brentwood Hills house in Los Angeles is the last property tying them to California, and it is the one now on the market.Meanwhile, Quaid’s Nashville abode is a quiet four-bedroom home in the Hillwood Estates neighborhood. He bought the house in 2021 for just under $2.4 million.
