Sunny Deol is set to return as criminal defence lawyer Arjun Mehra aka Ikka in the second instalment of Netflix’s courtroom drama ‘Ikka’, but Akshaye Khanna will not reprise his role in the sequel. According to a recent report, writing for ‘Ikka 2’ has already begun, with the makers developing a new story around Deol’s character. Production is expected to begin next year, while the team is currently working on the film’s theme and screenplay.

According to India Today, the makers of ‘Ikka’ have started developing the second instalment, with Sunny Deol set to return as Ikka. However, the sequel will reportedly move away from the storyline of the first film and will not bring back Akshaye Khanna’s character.The report stated that the writing process for ‘Ikka 2’ is already underway. The makers are currently working on the central theme and story, with production expected to commence next year.The sequel is therefore being planned as a fresh chapter in the franchise rather than a direct continuation of the narrative established in the first film.
Akshaye Khanna will not return in ‘Ikka 2’
The development marks a change for the franchise, which brought Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna together nearly 30 years after their memorable collaboration in ‘Border’. Their reunion was one of the talking points surrounding ‘Ikka’, which revolved around a high-stakes courtroom battle.While Deol’s character will remain at the centre of the second instalment, Khanna’s character will not be carried forward.
