Taylor Swift has released four new songs as part of the expanded edition of her 2025 album titled ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’.The album includes the single “Patient Zero”, “Pink Clouding,” “Babylon” and “Cleveland.” While one gives a cheeky insight into her relationship with her husband, the other explores a toxic relationship. The newly released songs have already sparked speculation among fans, with listeners dissecting the lyrics for possible references to her relationships over the yeas.
Patient Zero
In “Patient Zero”, Swift sings about being the first person affected by a damaging relationship, with the lyrics including, “If you’re sick of him, I’ve got you. I was patient zero.”In the track, Swift offers support to her former partner’s new girlfriend, telling her that she is there if she needs someone to turn to. The theme has prompted comparisons with Swift’s friendship with Sophie Turner following Turner’s divorce from Joe Jonas in 2023.Swift and Jonas famously dated briefly in 2008 before ending their relationship. Swift later supported Turner amid her divorce from Jonas, with the two women photographed together in New York in 2023.A music video for ‘Patient Zero’ is set to premiere on Sunday during the MTV Video Music Awards, where Swift is also set to receive the inaugural Artist Director trophy. Cleveland
Meanwhile, “Cleveland!” focuses on Swift’s relationship with Kelce, who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. The song references their romance while also appearing to address critics of their relationship. Fans have compared its defiant tone to “But Daddy I Love Him”, a track from Swift’s 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department, which addressed public scrutiny surrounding her personal life. The singer references their relationship in the track, singing about seeing a “scathing take ’bout how I’m fake / And he could find someone younger.” She goes on to sing, “Now I’m wearing white! So hate all you like! This is the love of my life.”Swift and Kelce married in July after a three-year relationship.
Pink Clouding
In “Pink Clouding”, Swift appears to reflect on a past relationship with a sense of regret over how she treated an ex. The lyrics have led some fans to speculate that the song could contain references to former partners, including Joe Alwyn and Tom Hiddleston. “I hope you realized my kind of trouble wasn’t worth it and the way I treated you, you never deserved it.
