Comedian-actor Sunil Pal has reacted sharply to Salman Khan’s recent comments on social media trolling during ‘Bigg Boss 20′ ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode. Speaking to the paparazzi at an event, Pal questioned the superstar’s stardom, argued that audiences are responsible for making actors stars and pointed to the theatrical performance of the low-budget Hanuman Ansh.Pal also took aim at the Hindi film industry’s reliance on big stars and expensive productions, while asking Salman to shut down Bigg Boss, which he described as a “gutter show”.

The comedian said, “We made Salman Khan; Salman Khan did not make us. Salman Khan is a star today because of all of us, because of the people of India. It is because we have watched so many of his films.”He went on to say, “Aur Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, sab log sabak le lijiye, aap logon ka time pass bahut zayada chal raha hai. Hanuman Ansh se Rs 500 crore kamaye jo Rs 2 crore mein bani hai aur Rs 500 crore ki film Rs 50 crore bhi nahi kama paa rahi hai. Pal also accused leading stars of having too much control over the film business, arguing that smaller filmmakers and actors struggle to get opportunities.“You are such big stars that you have bought out the corporate labour and the industry, and smaller people are unable to make films,” he said.Referring to ‘Hanuman Ansh’, Pal attributed its theatrical run to divine blessings, saying, “By the grace of Lord Hanuman and Neem Karoli Baba, Hanuman Ansh managed to earn so much.”The devotional film, which revolves around the life of Neem Karoli Baba, was made on a reported budget of around Rs. 2 crore. It initially opened to limited numbers before gaining momentum in the following weeks. Trade reports have highlighted its performance against much bigger-budget releases, particularly Yash-starrer ‘Toxic’.
