EC says notice issued to Delhi CM Rekha Gupta during SIR, entry validated for final electoral roll

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Saturday said a notice was issued to Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta after her name appeared in the list of logical discrepancies during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.The Commission said Gupta’s entry was subsequently verified through field verification and scrutiny of the facts and documents provided by her. Her electoral entry has now been validated and is set to be included in the Final Electoral Roll for Assembly Constituency 14 (Shalimar Bagh), scheduled to be published on November 4, 2026.The clarification came after reports on social media about the Election Commission issuing a notice to Gupta during the ongoing SIR exercise.“It has been reported in social media regarding issue of Notice to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision.In this regard, it is informed that during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026, the entry pertaining to Hon’ble Chief Minister of NCT of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, an elector registered in Assembly Constituency 14 (Shalimar Bagh), was identified in the list of logical discrepancies on the basis of details provided in the Enumeration Form.In accordance with the standard operating procedures of the Election Commission of India (ECI), a Notice was issued to the elector & physical field verification was conducted by the designated Booth Level Officer (BLO).”The Election Commission said the notice was part of the standard procedure followed when an electoral entry is flagged during the revision process.
