Brics Summit: Delhi on high alert with 4,800 cops, 35+ roads face curbs

NEW DELHI: Delhi has tightened security across the national capital ahead of the 18th Brics Summit, with nearly 4,800 traffic police personnel set to manage VVIP movement and more than 35 major roads identified for traffic restrictions and diversions.The summit will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from September 11 to 13, with foreign leaders and other dignitaries expected to attend.According to ANI, Delhi Police and other security agencies have entered the final phase of preparations, with thousands of personnel deployed and heightened surveillance along routes designated for VVIP movement.Around 22 diversion points will be used to regulate traffic during the movement of foreign delegations and VVIP convoys. Nearly 4,800 traffic police personnel will be deployed to ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of the dignitaries.Security has also been stepped up at around 10 major hotels where foreign delegates are expected to stay, along with 12 other important locations across the capital.
