Yash’s ‘Toxic’ to release in English across India on September 4; makers confirm a ‘shorter cut’ of the film

Yash’s much anticipated ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ directed by Geetu Mohandas was primarily shot in Kannada and English. However, the makers had initially released the film in Kannada and other dubbed languages in India. The team has officially announced that the English version of the film will be hitting the big screens in the country from September 4.

‘Toxic’ English in India

The makers took to their official X handle to announce that the English version will mark its debut in India tomorrow onwards. The further revealed that the upcoming version will be a “shorter cut” for the initially released film.Sharing a poster of the film, they wrote, “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, in English – one of the languages the film was written and shot in. A shorter cut from the Indian language version. In cinemas from September 4, 2026.”

‘Toxic’ initial reception

Speaking of ‘Toxic’, the Yash starrer has been in the news due to the high buzz regarding its grand release. The film remains Yash’s comeback since his last cinematic outing with ‘KGF 2’, this time with a star studded female cast including Nayathara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth.

‘Toxic’ box office run

After multiple delays, the film finally hit the big screens and to the audience’s disappointment, it got mixed to negative reviews. Although the movie opened with a bumper Rs 100 crore mark, it fell significantly and it is now maintaining a decent outing after completing a week-long run at the theaters.Fans pointed out the film’s weak screenplay and lack of emotional connection with jarring transitions. Although they praised Yash for his performance in a dual role, the film received criticism for its execution.According to Sacnilk, on Day 7, the film collected over Rs 7.85 crore across 12,894 shows. This brings the total net collection to Rs 229.60 crore. As the film’s majority collection comes from the Hindi audience, the large section of viewers also criticized the Hindi dub of the film.Interestingly, when the English trailer of the film was released by the makers, it received a better reception. Maybe, the English which will be released tomorrow could help ‘Toxic’ increase its box office revenue.

Speaking of ‘Toxic’, it is a gangster action thriller with Yash playing a dual role as a father and son. The film focuses on the early life of Raya played by Yash and his journey to grasp the criminal empire in Goa and also the conflicted past he shared with his Ticket.The film is billed as one of the most expensive projects.
