Mason Haynes, the longtime celebrity bodyguard known for his work protecting members of the Kardashian family, has passed away at the age of 52. According to a fundraising campaign launched by his family, Haynes passed away on July 4 in what they described as a tragic road traffic accident, just two days before he would have celebrated his 53rd birthday.According to Page Six, the security professional is survived by his devoted wife Fay, his daughter Brooke, his son Noah, and an extended family network. His family noted that “hundreds of messages” had “poured in” from “people whose lives Mason changed” following news of his passing.

In their tribute, Haynes’ family described a man of extraordinary character and compassion. “He leaves behind his devoted wife Fay, his daughter Brooke, his son Noah, a loving family, and an extraordinary circle of friends spread across the world,” the family statement read. They characterised him as someone “who made people feel welcome from the moment they met him,” who would “cross countries to help a friend,” and who was “a protector. A mentor. A prankster. A giant in every sense of the word, with an even bigger heart.”The family’s tribute included reflections from those who knew him personally. “A friend wrote that ‘the world has been robbed of that rare thing… a genuinely good man,'” the statement noted, with another person stating that his “greatest gift was his humanity.”The family explained that funds raised through their campaign would support two goals: “to ensure Mason gets the send-off he truly deserves – a celebration of a life that touched so many people,” and “to help ease some of the immediate financial pressures that inevitably follow such a sudden and devastating loss” for his immediate family.Additionally, Trojan Security UK, the security company that employed Haynes, shared its own tribute on social media on July 6. The company posted a photograph of Haynes towering over a high-profile client while providing protection during an outing, accompanying the image with a brief but heartfelt message. “RIP Big Mason. We would like to pay homage to an absolute legend in the Close Protection game. Big Mason. Gone too soon. Rest easy and fly high, Brother,” they wrote.

Throughout his career, Haynes worked with some of the entertainment industry’s most prominent figures. He notably provided security for members of the Kardashian family, including Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and Kanye West. He was also on the family’s security team during an infamous 2016 incident when Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in a Paris hotel.

When discussing that incident in a 2018 interview with a media outlet, Haynes maintained professional discretion about the details. “I can’t go into much detail about that,” he said, referring to the robbery. He characterised the event as “a set of unfortunate circumstances which led to something bad happening.”Beyond his work with the Kardashian family, Haynes claimed to have worked with numerous A-list performers and athletes, including a racing driver currently dating a member of the Kardashian family, as well as musicians including Charlie Puth and Nicki Minaj, and comedian Kevin Hart.

Despite working closely with high-profile clients throughout his career, Haynes was known for maintaining strict professional boundaries. During a 2020 interview, he explained his philosophy regarding the relationship between bodyguards and their clients. “Many bodyguards make the mistake of thinking that they’re friends with their clients.
