One more chance for excluded voters in Delhi, 6 other states

They won’t have to fill form 6, EC saysNEW DELHI: Electors across seven states/UTs undergoing SIR, including Delhi, who were excluded from the draft electoral roll on account of being absent, shifted, dead or duplicate (ASDD) and whose enumeration forms (EFs) were not received, will be provided one more opportunity to get their names included in the final electoral roll by filling up the SIR form afresh. They will no longer have to fill Form 6, meant for fresh enrolment, or Form 8, if they were excluded due to shifting of place of residence within the same state/UT.The drive in states where SIR is under way – Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana and Nagaland – may come as a relief for deleted electors who were reluctant to fill Form 6 to be added back, in view of the declaration in the form that they were enrolling for the first time. “Basically, the enumeration window which stopped with the publication of draft roll is being reopened for the deleted ASDD voters till the end of the claims and objections period,” an EC official said.EC, in a letter to chief electoral officers of the above states/UT, said ASDD electors may submit their EF physically or online to the electoral registration officer or booth-level officer (BLO), along with an annexure mentioning the reason why they could not submit it earlier and declaring that they have not submitted Form 6 for fresh enrolment during SIR.
